Ethan has been cracking me up lately with his love of letters. He likes to point them out and identify them (and has for a long time now). Lately he'll take a Cheerio and tell us "O", then take a small bite out of it, and depending on how big of a chunk is removed, then show and tell us either "U" or "C". He did something similar with the circular pretzels that I gave him out of our Chex Mix. He'll say "O" or "circle" initially, then take a small bite (not enough to break through the whole thing) and say "D", then bite all the way through and say "C". He enjoys playing with his food...
Thanks to Sesame Street (specifically Telly), Ethan is good at identifying triangles all over the place. He also now knows circle, square, and oval. He has also improved with his colors (which, for whatever reason, seemed to totally escape him in the past). Of his set of crayons, he can readily tell us all of the colors except for purple (which he usually calls blue). We were wondering for awhile if he had inherited my dad's colorblindness.
Ethan has also begun to string together lots of words to form long sentences. He's been doing this for at least 3 or 4 weeks. He is so animated when he talks too. He likes to tell us that something is "Right there!" and often uses the word "too". He'll say things like "Ethan eating pizza. Mommy and Daddy eating pizza too!" He wanted more pizza the other night, and Dan cut some up, filled his plate, and then returned it to Ethan's tray. Ethan exclaimed "There's more pizza! Right there!" It struck us as funny because his excitement was such that it seemed like the pizza had just magically appeared on his tray ;) He has moved on from calling Grandma and Grandpa both "BaBa" and now says "Grandma" and "Papa". I can't think of any other Ethanisms at the moment, but will be sure to post more as I recall them. This is such a fun age!
