Ethan's First Underwear- Thomas the Train

Today I finally decided to try Ethan in actual underwear as opposed to Pull-Ups. I cannot stand messes and hated the thought of potty accidents that weren't as simple to clean up as a diaper or Pull-Up, but several friends whose advice I trust had recommended underwear instead of Pull-Ups. So today Ethan got to wear Thomas the Train big boy underwear for the first time! After a couple of accidents, we bought some of the Gerber vinyl training pants to wear over them to minimize the mess, but Ethan was still excited to get to wear Thomas, Percy, and James on his underwear (even though they were hidden from view by white vinyl). Wearing underwear instead of Pull-Ups has helped with potty training a lot. Ethan dislikes the feeling of clingy wet cotton and is also much more aware of each time that he goes, whereas with the absorbency of a Pull-Up, I don't think that he always realized when he was going. It's nice that several friends are working on potty training their kids now too, so we can exchange ideas and advice regarding what is and isn't working with our kids.
