And the Feistiness Returns :(

Ethan had been doing so much better with his feedings for several weeks prior to his 9-month well baby check-up. Unfortunately, since then (the last couple of weeks), he has progressively become more and more feisty with his feedings. For example, at a feeding that he would generally take about 6 oz, he has been knocking the bottle out after less than an ounce. I continue to give the bottle back to him, and he repeatedly knocks it out, kicks it, flails around, tries to flip over in my lap, etc... In order to get him to take 3 or 4 ounces, he'll knock the bottle out 10-20+ times. He has also been worse with his solid feedings (not opening his mouth, just putting his head down and licking his bib, turning his head). I was hoping to attribute this to teething (that he may be getting some top teeth in that are bothering him). I talked to his pediatrician today about where to take Ethan for bloodwork to check his iron levels (see my entry from May 23rd), so I took the opportunity to ask about his recent feeding behavior. The Dr. thought that it was unusual and did not think it would be due to teething. I have tried pouring the breastmilk into a sippy cup too to see if he would be more interested, but he'll take a suck and then let all of the milk pour right out of his mouth without swallowing. Hopefully his feedings will improve again soon, but we don't know what prompted this change in behavior.
